I'm just going to show pretty pictures. Because really... who reads this stuff? Even I don't!
We saw some cool dragonflies!
This one liked me! (Or at least is a Cheap Trick fan...)
We saw this pterodactyl circling the water, making weird sounds...
But it was just a kingfisher.
A Painted turtle was enjoying a bask...
A bullfrog was enjoying a dunk...
A spider was enjoying its web...
While this one (that I can't seem to ID) was almost big enough to lift with my snake-stick!
Flipping produced plenty of mice!
Redbacks were in abundance...
We missed a quick garter snake but found this Milk Snake (in a new spot) who was ready for a shed...
There were plenty of dug-up turtle nests, many of which had just been laid. The culprits (raccoons? skunks?) didn't even finish their job. There were broken but uneaten eggs all over...
Luckily, there are plenty of turtles still around ready to make more babies!
Stacks of 'em, in fact!
Still, we'd hoped for more snakes. We tried out new paths but wound up with no new hot spots. We were so hard up for snakes that we went back to where we'd found the Milk to see if he was still in the same pile from 3 hours earlier! He was!
We also found this behemoth Redback...
One thing that must be said for Boyden Refuge... it's ant-tastic!
